Phnom Penh៖ Um Vichet finally left Tiffy Army to join Phnom Penh Crown this season, and it has proved so right for the Red Singha to sign the Cambodia international goalkeeper with what he has shown in his opening four appearances for the club.

The former Tiffy Army goalkeeper has kept four clean sheets in his four Metfone Cambodian League appearances for the Phnom Penh side to help them top the table with four wins and a draw from their opening five matches.

Um Sereyroth, who is Um Vichet’s younger brother, believed that Um Vichet’s departure is good for both of them as they can play regularly, and none of them would be left on the bench as they are the first-option goalkeepers for their respective club.

The Cambodia international and Tiffy Army goalkeeper told camsports.org: “I’m happy for him [Um Vichet] to join a new club, where he can get new experience. I’m happy, and I don’t feel bad at all.

“His departure gives us a good chance to play our games. It’s a good choice for both of us as we can get more playing time. He regularly features for his new club, and for me I can play in every game, too. If we still played in the same club, there would be one of us who needs to sit on the bench.

“He cannot only play, but he can also coach other goalkeepers at his club. I’m sure he can share his great experience to the young goalkeepers. It’s great for the club that has him.

“He is doing great at Phnom Penh Crown this season, and as his younger brother I’m very happy for him. I always have faith in him and wish him the best and achieve his dream of winning trophies.

“I think each of their players is having a great commitment to win the league title, so I think they can challenge for the league title this season.”
