Phnom Penh៖ Opeyemi Ajayi explains how football has an impact on his life and is grateful to his brother Gbenga Ajayi as the Boeung Ket legend gave him support and encouragement to help him achieve his dream of becoming a footballer.
The striker made his debut in the Metfone Cambodian League last season when he joined Asia Euro United. He spent half season at the university-based club before completing his transfer move to join Visakha in the second round of last season.
The Nigerian produced a stunning performance and scored four goals during Asia Euro United’s 5-0 victory over Kampong Cham, and it could have been the match that made him receive the interest from Visakha.
“Football gives me happiness, good life, and almost everything I want,” the Visakha striker told camsports.org.
“I started my football career from the bottom in my homeland in Africa. I got the strong desire to be a professional footballer since my primary school days.
“Sure, there are a lot of hard times, but it becomes easy with the encouragement and support from my brother. He gave me all the courage that I needed to make me never give up.”
