Phnom Penh៖ Sok Veasna admitted that Asia Euro United are not the contenders to challenge for the trophies yet, but they still have strong desire to compete to improve.
The Asia Euro United coach explained that the club’s vision is to take part in football development in Cambodia as he reckoned Asia Euro University as the leading institution to help improve sports in Cambodia.
The university based side are eighth in the Metfone Cambodian League with two wins, two losses, and a draw after five matches this season.
The 39-year-old coach told camsports.org: “We know we are not capable enough to challenge for the league title yet, but this doesn’t affect us or our spirit. We have a strong desire to win the games, and we give our all against all the teams.
“What that encourages us is our great passion for football. We want to be a part of developing football in Cambodia, and we want to improve and make ourselves stronger. If we want to improve, we must train hard and harder.
“Our vision is to push Cambodian football forward. Asia Euro United is the leading university that works to improve the sports especially football in our country, and you can see that no universities are above us in helping to push football forward.
“We have no problem with the quality of our foreign players. A lot of foreign players moved to big clubs after they played for us as they wanted big money. The problem is local players as it’s hard to find the types of players we need. It’s hard to convince them to join us because they want big money.”
