Phnom Penh៖ Um Vichet lauded Kok Boris and Yue Safy partnership after the defensive duo produced an amazing defensive record that sees Phnom Penh Crown keep five clean sheets from their opening five Metfone Cambodian League matches.
The defensive duo started together in the Red Singha’s last three matches and proved to be a great partnership after Kok Boris recovered from injury.
Phnom Penh Crown occupy the top spot in the Metfone Cambodian League table this season after securing four wins and a draw from five matches.
Having Kok Boris and Yue Safy in front of him in the Red Singha’s defense makes Um Vichet feel confident as he also highlights the importance of defense in the Phnom Penh side’s title race this season.
The Cambodia international goalkeeper told camsports.org: “They [Kok Boris and Yue Safy] have great characters, and they are willing to listen to each other and learn to improve themselves. They have good communication and always share their problems together.
“They try to learn from each other and adjust themselves to the style of play from game to game. They are not foreign players, but they have their quality and play alongside each other well.
“It’s normal in football. If you have a good start in the league, it will give you so much confidence. We have the confidence to improve more, and we trust each other. In some situations, I have much confidence that they can challenge and win the ball from the opponent strikers, and they have faith in me to make good saves, too.
“We can boost the confidence from the back. The defenders win the ball back and give it to the midfielder. The midfielder creates a good chance for our striker to score goal. This is a great team work, and we trust each other a lot.”
