Phnom Penh៖ Yudai Ogawa has lifted the lid on his stoppage time incident with Andres Nieto during Angkor Tiger’s 1-0 defeat to Phnom Penh Crown last week.

The Japanese blamed referee for ignoring Andres Nieto’s hard tackles on him before he head-butted the Phnom Penh Crown midfielder in the additional time.

The Angkor Tiger midfielder was then sent off, and after the match he felt sorry for the incident that he reckoned as wrong doing.

Yudai Ogawa told camsports.org: “I got some hard challenges from him first, but the referee didn’t whistle. Exactly, I was stressful, but that action was wrong, and that is not good for me and for the team.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game because Phnom Penh Crown is a good team, and Smart RSN Stadium is a difficult place. We still had chances to win, though. We created a lot of chances, but we needed a litle bit quality and calmness in front of the box.

“Of course, it’s not the best start, but not a bad start either. We can be better and have to decrease small mistakes. I believe we’re a good team, so I’m still looking foward to playing for our team this season.”
