Siem Reap៖ Oriol Segura dedicated Angkor Tiger’s famous Siem Reap derby win over Soltilo Angkor to the supporters after his side produced a stunning performance to put their Siem Reap rival to the sword.
Debiro Bata’s hat-trick and a further goal from Long Phearath helped Angkor Tiger record a superb 4-0 win over Soltilo Angkor to snatch their first three points following a 1-1 draw with Boeung Ket in their opening match of the season.
Oriol Segura told camsports.org: “We are all so happy and proud about our game on Sunday, and it’s a gift for our supporters in Siem Reap. Derby is special, and special means so important for us.
“Yesterday’s game was like any of the Derby around the world – it’s something special and important for both teams in Siem Reap. I really have the feeling of importance in the Derby against Soltilo [Angkor], so we needed to prepare a lot for this battle.
“It was a perfect afternoon for Angkor Tiger’s fans. I think football can be played a little better, so we work on it for the joy of our people – it’s a sweet victory for sure.
“Actually, Siem Reap needs to be a Football City, and for sure I prefer that Siem Reap fully supports our side. I really think that we offer something [more] beautiful and better than our rivals, but I must show my respect to the opposition team because without Soltilo Angkor, there is not a Derby. As the club president said: ‘Siem Reap is Orange.’, but also Yellow as I have my respect for them.
“Sure, we did much better in our own ways. Well, we are on our process not only about starts or beginnings, but about continuity and growth. Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng produced an amazing record last season, so we need to wake up and become stronger to close the gap in the Metfone Cambodian League.”
