Manila៖ Cambodia U22 suffered their first defeat in Group A of men’s football in the SEA Games as Myanmar U22 came from behind to grab a narrow 2-1 win that sends them into the semi-final.

Yeu Muslim came close to put Cambodia U22 in front just three minutes after kick-off as he smashed home with a powerful effort, but it was denied by the post.

Keo Sokpheng picked up a ball from Sin Sophanath’s early strike that was blocked before he unleashed an effort from the close range, but it was denied by Myanmar U22 goalkeeper Sann Sat Naing’s brilliant save.

Myanmar U22 looked dangerous from the counter attack, with Myat Kaung Khant’s curl effort from the right-hand side denied by the post.

Cambodia U22 were in front after twenty-two minutes when Sin Sophanath slotted home from the rebound after Sann Sat Naing failed to collect Mao Piseth’s long range attempt.

Two minutes later, Sin Kakada pulled off a brilliant individual skill as he tricked Aung Wunna Soe before sending a low effort that was pulled away by Sann Sat Naing.

Cambodia U22 hit the post for the second time through Keo Sokpheng’s strike from distance. Then Lwin Moe Aung drew Myanmar U22 level with a fabulous low shot in the half way of the first half.

Myanmar U22 created early chance into the second half, and Hul Kimhuy was made to save Htet Phyoe Wai’s low effort from the near post.

Mao Pisoth’s double strikes were blocked before Myanmar captain Hlaing Bo Bo headed wide, and Aung Kaung Mann’s low effort went wide.

Hul Kimhuy’s error cost Cambodia U22 the match as he failed to tip the ball away from Aung Kaung Mann’s effort that handed Myanmar U22 a hard-fought 2-1 victory.

Cambodia U22 need to beat Malaysia U22 in their final Group A match to possibly earn the semi-final spot as Myanmar U22 finish their group-stage campaign as Group A winners.
