Manila៖ Cambodia U22 recorded their first victory in the 2019 SEA Games men’s football with a massive 5-0 win over Timor Leste U22 to top Group A.
A brace from Reing Bunheing and goals from Sin Kakada, Sieng Chanthea, and Keo Sokpheng help the young KoupreyBlues snatch all three points against Timor Leste U22.
It’s a glorious start for Cambodia U22 as Sin Kakada put them ahead inside ten minutes of the play with a free-kick inside Timor Leste U22’s dangerous box. The Visakha striker’s free-kick was deflected by Nelson Viegas and headed into the top corner.
Ten minutes later, Sin Sophanath’s double efforts were denied. The Cambodia U22 striker’s long range strike was saved before his header went off target.
Timor Leste U22 improved their possession and looked threatening in the last minutes of the first half. Hul Kimhuy came out quickly to collect the ball from a dangerous cross. With three minutes remaining, Henrique Martins fired a low effort, but it was only off target.
A brilliant second-half performance with the introduction of Reing Bunheing and Sieng Chanthea saw Cambodia U22 hit four goals.
Reing Bunheing doubled Cambodia U22 advantage with an easy tap-in just seven minutes after the striker came on to replace Sin Sophanath.
It took Sieng Chanthea only two minutes to score Cambodia U22’s third goal on the night after he was introduced in the seventy-sixth minute.
Keo Sokpheng bagged his second goal of the match to extend Cambodia U22’s lead to 4-0, and then Reing Bunheing struck late in the stoppage time to secure an astonishing 5-0 win for Cambodia U22 over Timor Leste U22.
Three points against Timor Leste U22 sends Cambodia U22 to top of Group A after two matches as they will face Myanmar U22 on December 2 before taking on Malaysia U22 in their final Group A match on December 4.
