Phnom Penh៖ Chea Vesly reckons this season as the greatest season in his career after he clinched the Hun Sen Cup with Boeung Ket and has been named in Cambodia U22’s final squad for the upcoming SEA Games.
The young KoupreyBlues have been drawn in Group A of the Men’s football in the biggest ASEAN sport tournament alongside host Philippines U22, Timor Leste U22, Myanmar U22, and Malaysia U22.
Chea Vesly, therefore, believes that his side have high hope to reach the semi-final of the tournament.
“It’s an opportunity for me to prove myself and to play for my country, so I’m very happy to be in the final squad,” the Boeung Ket midfielder, who will represent Cambodia on international stage for the first time, told camsports.org.
“I think helping Boeung Ket clinch the Hun Sen Cup should be one of the reasons I get the call-up. I was not in the preliminary squad, but after I won the final with Boeung Ket, the coach invited me to join the national team squad.
“My dream is to play for Cambodia in the SEA Games at least once in my football career because it’s the biggest sport tournament in ASEAN. Now it’s happening, so I’m very happy.
“What’s next for me? I will do my best to help the team reach the semi-final, and this time we have high hope to reach the semi-final.
“I also want to fight for my place at Boeung Ket to get chances to join the national team in other international tournaments.
“This year is a great year in my career as I never got the chances to join the national team before. I am a part of the club to make history by winning the Hun Sen Cup. I think all my hard work has paid off.”
