Tes Sambath admits that it is hard for him to earn a place in Cambodia’s XI as he has yet to make any appearance for Cambodia despite receiving regular national team call-up recently.

Cambodia play Mongolia in this evening’s international friendly match, and the Boeung Ket center-back points out that the KoupreyBlues will use it to test their players ahead of the clash with Hong Kong in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The 19-year-old is patient to wait for the chance to impress Cambodia coach Felix Dalmas as he believes he is capable enough to break into Cambodia’s XI.

Tes Sambath, who won the Hun Sen Cup with Boeung Ket this season, told camsports.org: “It will be a very good match for us. They have a lower FIFA World Ranking than us, but they are a good team and can play well, too.

“Surely, we will use the friendly game with Mongolia to prepare our team [against Hong Kong]. After the game, we will be able to learn where we need to improve. We can also use it to test our players.

“It will be hard for me to get a chance to play, and I don’t have high hope to get the chance [against Mongolia]. I have played for Boeung Ket for one season, and I think I am good enough to play for Cambodia.

“I need to wait for my chance, and if I get the chance, I will do my best. I have learned a lot from the training camp with Cambodia. What I need to improve the most is to think quicker.”
