Phnom Penh៖ Prak Sovannara claims that Cambodian football future is bright after Cambodia U19 defeated Thailand U19 2-1 in the AFC U19 Championship qualifiers.
Cambodia U19 face Brunei U19 this evening in the final Group G match, and a win is likely to send them into the final round of the AFC U19 Championship.
A massive 2-1 win against Thailand U19 and a thumping 9-0 victory over Northern Mariana Islands U19 should be reckoned as a great achievement for Cambodia U19 .
With what Cambodia U19 have achieved, Prak Sovannara lauded the decision to allow Bati Youth to take part in the Cambodian League this season, which hands the youth players to taste top flight football.
The former Cambodia coach told camsports.org: “Recently, we have shown our quality as the boys have a chance to play in our league [top flight].
“As you can see [Met] Samel has played in almost every league games for G.C National Police, and Sieng Chanthea has much experience with the national team as well as in the Cambodian League.

“The boys must maintain their quality since this young age, and the Football Federation of Cambodia are working hard to achieve this.
“Our plan and style of play, we are making it clear as we want our players to gain advantage from their speed and strength. This is our policy, and we need to continue working hard on this.
“We need to make football here more serious even football is the No. 1 sport in Cambodia. The clubs have provided more support to the players, and they have bigger budget too.
“Parents and public are aware of the advantages of playing football, and they encourage their kids to play football. Some parents even pay the tuition to the football academy for their kids.
“For these reasons, I believe our football will be better and better, and at the same time our youths must keep themselves away from drugs. It’s great the boys have ambition to be professional players, and they need to have self discipline.
“Some of our boys have great talent, but they are lack of ambition. They must push themselves to reach Asian level or world. We must work together to achieve this.”
