Phnom Penh៖ Hao Socheat has confirmed that Chan Vathanaka is a doubt for tomorrow’s Hun Sen Cup final against Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng at the Smart RSN Stadium.

The Boeung Ket coach is unsure whether the Cambodia international striker is fit on time to face the Svay Rieng side, who have just clinched the Metfone Cambodian League title this season.

Conor Nestor’s side have won the Hun Sen Cup four times in their club’s history, while Boeung Ket will play their first Hun Sen Cup final this Wednesday.

Hao Socheat, however, is not much concerned about Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng’s huge experience in the Hun Sen Cup final as he states that his side are ready to make history by winning their first Hun Sen Cup trophy.

Boeung Ket have won the Metfone Cambodian League title three times, but they have yet to lift the Hun Sen Cup trophy. Therefore, it would mean a lot to them to win the Hun Sen Cup this season.

Hao Socheat told camsports.org: “We have some issues during our Hun Sen Cup final preparation. We have some injury concerns, and Chan Vathanaka is a doubt for tomorrow’s game. We need to assess his injury issue.

“Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng have more experience playing in Hun Sen Cup final, but it’s not our big concern. If we do our best, we can win as Hun Sen Cup is very important for us because we lost the league title [this season].

“More importantly, we want to make history for our club because we never win the Hun Sen Cup before. We want to win it for our supporters, too.”
