Phnom Penh៖ Jonathan Campbell wants Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng to be unbeaten for the entire Cambodian League season after his side played out a 1-1 draw against second-placed Visakha.

With three matches to go, the Svay Rieng side top the Cambodian League table with eight points ahead of Visakha, meaning that they are one win away from clinching the league title this season.

Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng, who have picked up eighteen wins and five draws from twenty-three league matches, could become the greatest champions in the history of Cambodia’s top flight should they maintain their unbeaten record.

Their final three opponents are Ministry of National Defense, Asia Euro United, and NagaWorld, but a victory over Ministry of National Defense at home is enough for them to claim their second league championships in the club’s history.

Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng could have won the league on Monday this week, but Da Cruz’s header denied them three points in a 1-1 draw with Visakha.

Jonathan Campbell told “It was a nervous performance from our team. We weren’t able to impose our style of football that we always play, which made it a frustrating match. But, overall I’m happy that we fought hard and almost won the game.

“They [Visakha] were throwing a lot of people into the box and piling on pressure. He [Da Cruz] took his goal well because it wasn’t an easy finish.

“Honestly, my goal is to remain unbeaten for the entire season, so I’m looking forward to all 3 of our remaining matches.

“We have been this successful because we are a team. We defend together, and we attack together. That’s why we are on top and are unbeaten. We have the best defense, and we also have the best attack because we execute our game plans as a team, and all do our jobs in the pitch. Plus, the heart and desire of all our players have been incredible for the entire season.

“This [unbeaten record] has been my target for a long time, but we take each individual game as it comes. So, I won’t think ahead of our next match. Only focus for the next match like we do every game.”
