Phnom Penh៖ With twenty-two matches down and four to go, Naga World are eleven points behind league leaders Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng, meaning that they are very likely to fail to defend their Cambodian League championships this season.
Naga World conceded seventeen league goals this season as they are the second team to concede the fewest goals after twenty-two matches, but former Cambodia striker, who is deployed as a full-back at Naga World, explained that team defense cost Meas Channa’s side the league title.
Last year’s Cambodian League champions defeated Kampong Cham 3-0 last week, with one of the goals coming through Khim Borey, who bagged his second goal of the season as the Naga World full-back.
The 32-year-old born told camsports.org: “A 3-0 win is a good result for us. Kampong Cham have made a good progress as they signed several new local and foreign players. Their form and especially their defense is much better.
“The coach plays me as a full-back. No matter where you play, the important thing is to understand your role and the team tactic.
“It’s my second goal of the season, but I have provided nine assists so far this season.
“Our hope to defend our league title is almost over, and we regret not being able to win the title again. However, we need to win the remaining games to secure at least second place.
“Our team defense is not really good, and it costs us a lot. That’s why we can’t defend our title.”
