Svay Rieng៖ Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng put seven goals past Bati U18 at the Svay Rieng Stadium to secure three vital points that move them a step closer to winning the Cambodian League title this season.
Five goals from Marie Privat and a brace from Try Vichet helped Conor Nestor’s side demolish the visitors 7-0 as they are eight points ahead of second-placed Visakha with four matches remaining.
The Irish coach also praised Marie Privat for his massive impact on the team since joining the club this season, with the Cameroonian striker scoring a number of important goals in his first season with the Svay Rieng side.
Conor Nestor told camsports.org: “It was a good performance considering we were without 4 players who normally start including Campbell, Visal, Krya and Sok Samnang. I think the performance was very professional.
“We were really good for long periods of the game, but we also had too many moments we didn’t play at the high tempo we want to. That can happen after the international break.
“Mathematically speaking, we know a win on Sunday wins the title, but first we must focus on Phnom Penh Crown in the Hun Sen Cup. It’s a big win, but we have the advantage of knowing that playing our system and putting the team first has resulted in 25 wins and 4 draws since we last lost a game.
“Privat has made a massive difference to this team. We are a better team because of him, but he is also a better player because of his team mates. Speaking as a fan not his coach, I love to watch him play the game as he gets the crowd off their feet. That’s what football is all about, and it is about entertainment. Privat and all his team mates have entertained all season, so I’m just happy I get a good seat every game.”
