Phnom Penh៖ Kouch Dani targets second place in the Cambodian League this season as Nagaworld’s chance to defend their league title is almost out of reach after they are eleven points behind league leaders Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng with five matches to go.

The midfielder who has just returned to the team training with Nagaworld ahead of this Sunday’s clash with Kampong Cham after the international duty with Cambodia during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers second round.

The Cambodian League returns to action this weekend after the international break, with the reigning champions entertaining Kampong Cham, who conceded more than ten goals against Nagaworld in the first round of the season.

The 28-year-old, who featured for Cambodia during a 1-1 draw with Hong Kong in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers second round, is fit to face Kampong Cham if Nagaworld coach Meas Channa calls for his service.

Despite Nagaworld’s chance to secure their second league title in two successive seasons becoming very slight, the French-Khmer born believes that his side will play to get maximum points from their five remaining league matches.

Kouch Dani told camsports.org: “To get number one this season will be very difficult for Nagaworld, so we will try to reach the second place.

“It is not a pressure for us. We will play every game 100% to get the most points as possible, and if Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng drop some points, we will try to touch them.

“I think we will beat Kampong Cham again, but not with so many goals like the first game because they have new good players.

“We still hope to be the champions, and we still train hard for this. We don’t give up.

“During my camp with Cambodia National Team, I trained alone in the morning and with the team in afternoon, so I am fit to help my club this weekend.”
