Phnom Penh៖ Prak Sovannara claimed that professional footballers need to take awareness of several factors and policy to improve themselves and keep them fit for the matches.
The former Cambodia coach believed that players themselves are the more important factor to succeed in football than coach, meaning that the players should be aware of when and how to train, rest, and eat.
The 46-year-old, who is in charge of G.C National Police Football Club, also raised a concern related to Social Media by stating that some of Cambodia’s local players tend not to know how to make use of Social Media and spend so much time on Social Media.
Prak Sovannara told camsports.org: “The main and basic policy for a sport man is to train hard, take enough rest, and eat enough.
“You need to train hard including tactic, trick, and energy. The players must be aware of those three things, so they shouldn’t always wait for the instruction from the coach. They need to have commitment to do so even they are not ordered to do.
“They need to have commitment to improve. For professional players, it is more about themselves rather than the coach.
“For foods, they need to eat something that can give them energy. Don’t eat when you want or when you are hungry, but eat when you need more energy. At the same time, you need to get enough rest.
“In football, we talk about five factors including tactic, trick, energy, mentality, and decision making, and all of these five are so important that all players need to obtain.
“You can’t drink beer or hang out with friends at night, meaning that you sacrifice for your professional football career.
“Social Media plays a big role these days. You cannot say everything you want on Social Media. In World Football, there are so many things that the fans don’t know or think that it’s simple, but actually not, definitely not.”
With five matches to go, Prak Sovannara’s G.C National Police, who sit in the eleventh place in the Cambodian League table, welcome Angkor Tiger at the EDC Stadium this Saturday.
